Those caps were noticeably absent from my camper van when I picked it up, and the glass lid was making a disturbing rattling sound whenever I closed it. The caps are specifically designed to fit over holes measuring exactly 7 millimeters in diameter....

... does help. It will just snap over the current knob and you are done. Just tilt it to one side and you can pop it back off, but it will stay in place while you travel just in case you want to just leave it in place.  It is 8 inches long.   Enjoy!
