This is an easy to make laser cut, fully functional reciprocating rack and pinion gear system that is laser cut from .194" (5mm) MDF and .160" (4mm) acrylic. You can use MDF for all parts but making the rack gear from acrylic helps it slide easier.

This mechanism is very similar to another one I've published before (Reciprocate Gear Mechanism). The difference is the use of a wheel with Pins instead of a gear. PS. I did this some time ago based on this picture...
