0-gauge shunting engine for OS railway, Brio etc.

A very short 0-4-0 shunting engine using cheap yellow motors. It is intended to run on its flanges around the curves found on a typical wooden railway. It will also run as a normal rail vehicle on most 0-gauge track including tin-plate, Big-big Train, Lima, OS railway and the track for many cheap toys. It also runs on blue Plarail track. The short length is to allow the body to be printed on a 100x100 bed. The cab is taken from the model Ruston at Thingiverse 4812298 and the hood is remixed from the same place. Other optional fittings and decorations can also be borrowed from thee Ruston. Unlike the Ruston model, this toy has no electronics, just a single switch for forward/off/reverse. The couplers can be easily changed. The example in the photos has a rotating magnet to connect to either end of a wooden train. At the other end is a Lima or Big-Big Train auto coupler. To tow Plarail rolling stock one or both should be changed for a Parail coupler. I consider this to be a "work in progress" because I paused development when I achieved the model in the photos. The hood is only as long as my printer allowed before it printed a crack. Hence a complete model with a full hood has not been built yet. Likewise the feldbahn type coupling slots could be improved. The model is way over scale compared to most wooden rolling stock and also too high for proper 7mm to the foot O-gauge models. It does look correct compared to models of 2-foot gauge skips running on 32mm track (16mm to the foot scale). At present the model uses the Ruston cabin unaltered to you will need to drill a hole to suit your switch, probably about 6.5mm. Here is a short video of it in operation: https://youtu.be/kMQYLmbuUoQ <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/kMQYLmbuUoQ" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> Parts needed: M2 x 6 or 8 screws - minimum 4, preferably 6 to hold hood and cab to body M3 x 25 screws - 2 for coupler pins Motors, yellow plastic gearbox ("TT motor") 6V 2 (operate at 3V) Battery holder, 2xAA side by side Switch, double pole, double throw, centre off Hookup wire, solder etc. to suit motors and switch O-rings, about 25mm x 2mm - 4 for tyres
