Build your own 11dbi BiQuad Antenna for 1.2-1.3Ghz Frequency. This Antenna is linear polarized and will work great with your 1.2 - 1.3Ghz FPV Model. Tested to a range of 50+km. All credit goes to Alex, aka IBCrazy. Here a quote: For those who are looking to transition into long rang flights, this just might be the antenna for you. The BiQuad is a fairly simple to build 11dbi antenna that puts 99% of it's beam right where you need it - out front. No loss of flight area due to sides lobes, compact design and many mounting capabilities make this an excellent upgrade to your patch or 9dbi Yagi. The antenna gives a nice 50-55 degree beam width for you to fly in on your long distance ventures. Select the template you would like to use (sharp corners or round) and whether you want to print it directly with the spacers or rather glue them on later (makes it a bit easier to get it all lined up as the spacer does not get in the way). In addition you need: 1 sheet of sheet metal (thickness doesn’t matter much. E.g. 26 gauge galvanized steel or a copper PCB board) - dimensions: 9.17”/23.28cm x 9.17”/23.28cm (if it is a bit off it is not to dramatic. Make sure that it at least covers the full area of the printed part) 1 coaxial cable (e.g. RG58/U) 1 length of solid 1.5mm copper wire Tools: Tape measure Soldering iron Solder Calipers (optional) Drill How to put it together: print the template and bend the copper wire and press it into the groove inside the template. This will take care of the right length and shape. The wire is placed inside the template in one piece. The center top is bend and the 2 ends meet in the middle from the bottom left and right. Finally follow the instructions here to finish it off (use the printed spacers instead of the nylon bolts): http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1328260 Have fun and fly safe. Print Settings Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator 2X Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.200 Infill: 20% Notes: Turn the drawings so that the grove is facing up.
