1/4" Dowel Jig

1/4" Dowel Jig

This is a dowel jig for joining 2 pieces of nominal 1" (0.75") wood. The two holes close together will join a 1x2 and the outside holes will join a 1x4. I included a small window for both setups so you can line up the center of your dowels on your wood pieces. I used these bronze bushings from Lowes (https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hillman-1-Count-1-4-in-Bronze-Machine-Bushing/3024774) to guide my drill bit. Just press fit them into the jig. (I drilled out my jig's holes with a 3/8 bit to enlarge them slightly - you want it to be a pretty snug fit.) The stop collar uses an M3x10mm bolt and nut. When setting up the stop collar, l inserted it into the jig and made sure that it stuck out the other side a little further than half of the length of my dowel. In the pictures I'm dry-fitting a few pieces of scrap wood, but I'll be using this jig on a real project soon.
