10-turn 25mm Potentiometer Knob

prusaprinters

Compound planetary gears with 11:1 ratio to achieve 10 full turns from a standard (almost) single turn potentiometer. Shown with 18mm guitar pot. The cap is glued on, either to outer ring or to the central gear for a slowly rotating dial.

Clearances of your printer will need to be dialled in quite accurately. The smaller hole should bind on the knurled shaft (the bit that turns) while the larger hole of the removable gear should allow tightly threading onto mounting shaft of the potentiometer.

Assembly hint: Start threading on potentiometer in assembled position, then heat potentiometer with boiled water (don't immerse PLA) to continue threading, taking turns to advance the dial to rewind the pot as you go. The hot shaft will cut a thread like butter and melt nicely in place.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Creality

Printer:

Ender 3

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.2

Infill:

N/A (solid thick walls)

Filament:
eSun PLA+ Blue/Neutral

Notes:

The two colour effect was achieved by leaving some neutral which broke off in my bowden tube when switching filament.
