Use this 12-inch stick to precisely calibrate your extruder steps without wasting a lot of filament. 1. Hold the stick where the filament enters the extruder. 2. Place a piece of tape at the end of the stick, so that it is exactly 100mm from the filament inlet. 3. Send G92 E0 to zero out the extruder counter. 4. From your control panel, extrude enough filament for the tape to reach the inlet. 5. Send M114 and read how much your extruder (E) thinks it has extruded. (Let's say 112.5mm.) 6. If you're using steps/mm, divide the number received in step 5 by 100 and multiply the result by your current steps/mm. 7. If you're using mm/steps, divide 100 by the number received in step 5 and multiply the result by your current mm/steps.
