11.5 Ligne Watchmakers Movement Holder

This is a watch movement holder for a 11.5 ligne movement (25.6mm) such as a Miyota 85xx movements or a Chinese DG28xx/38xx movements so that you have a stable place to do your delicate work. Instructions 1-Print this at 10% size high resolution. 2-Drill the rod chases with a 3mm drill to clean them out. 3-Insert 3mm smooth rod into the inboard holes to keep the vice straight, it should be a bit tight but loose enough to slide 4-Insert screws in the outboard holes to tighten the movement holder, tighten the wingnuts/washers on other side to clamp the movement in 5-Do not use grease on rods as this can contaminate your watch movement. (This is untested as I borrowed a movement holder) Use OpenSCAD to edit the ligne size for other movements. To insert the movement you will have to remove the crown(winding stem) and then remove any clamps holding in the movement, once the movement is out you will need to remove the the watch hands and dial possibly the date disc. Fit should be snug but not so tight that it warps the plate. You need proper demagnetized tools including magnifying loup, tweezers, sharpened screwdrivers, rodico putty, pegwood, a clean area, and steady hands. there are plenty of brand new watches with cheap but surprisingly very well made Chinese movements that you can practice on for around $15 that can easily keep within COSC spec with a daily rate of −4/+6 sec if you wish to take the time to regulate them.
