NEW: In the customizer, you can now also change the size of the film and the film frames, to print a film holder for almost any kind of film! Do you still have some strips of 110 film that were used in pocket cameras back in the 1970s and 1980s? And do you have a Plustek OpticFilm scanner? This is a film holder for 110 films. Just place the film strip into the holder, put the cover on the holder, and scan the film. There is a solid version, and a light version with struts that saves a little material. With the customizer, you can also change the holder for other film types. I recommend to use black filament, to reduce scatter lights from the scanner lamp while scanning. How I Designed This Actually, I am not completely happy with the result. The film strip shifts in the holder, I probably should have added some registration pins to hold it in place. Also the notches on the edges of the holder seem to be a little too wide. The holder is not fixed exactly in the center of the frame, so each scan may need some minor position readjustments. I also had some issues with pillowing. I first used an infill of 20%, with poor results. For the prints on the photos, I used a 24% infill, which was acceptable. I only had a small number of film strips to scan, and the holder did a good job. However, for a larger number you may want to do some minor improvements. The SCAD source code is included, so feel free to make a remix.
