Introduction

This is a copy of a wooden puzzle I've had for 25 years. It is great and a joy to play with.

The main challenge is taking it apart and then learning how to put it together again, so it works better if you print it for someone who never has seen it, as printing it for yourself is filled with spoilers.

Alternatively, you could print, and have someone else put it together for you, so you can enjoy the puzzle of taking it apart.

Print instructions:

Print the 12 pieces as laid out in the 3mf file. It should work with any plastic, but it worked great with PETG given the smooth nature of the natural finish.

Assemble after printing.

No supports needed. Print with 0.1mm to 0.2mm layer height for satisfactory results. The lower the layer height, the better it'll look. Also, do more than the default 2 perimeters, as it will increase the print strength and will prevent you from breaking the puzzle when playing with it.

If printing from the STL files, reorienting the piece so that the center notch is facing up on the print bed will increase strength and reduce the number of filament retractions.

Assembly instructions

Assembly is easier to show than to describe, so here´s a spoiler-filled video on how to assemble. If you're up for the challenge, attempt to assemble based just on the photo. If you want the challenge of the puzzle as intended, find someone to assemble it for you.

<oembed url="https://youtu.be/IrzYJhhUpkc"></oembed>
