Designed to scare bears and other wildlife, protect perimeter around camp with loud deterrent. 12ga !!BLANKS!! clevis pin will have to be sanded on one end into a rounded tip capable of detonating a percussion cap.advantage is they are light and if used properly very simple. easy to back pack and don't cause injury to the animals. Design is to produce a loud bang sufficient enough to scare a curious bear away without causing harm to you or said wildlife. To load place spring in hole, add clevis on top (sanded end facing shell), lock in place using cotter key in slot, strap (zip tie) to small tree securely facing away from camp and humans!, using pencil or stick or something push clevis pin in all the way, insert cotter key in back (run string first and tie to cotter key), once everything is secure you can slide shell into apparatus (BLANK, DO NOT USE PROJECTILE SHELLS!!!) leave area, preferably placing warning tape or something to alert humans there is a deterrent there. Bear frightened (should run off and not maul you for scaring the crap out of them, down side might be some bear poo in camp, and maybe yours too but no bear.
