I thought the Taz 6 had 12mm Y rails in the stock configuration. It turns out that it doesn't. So, this project aims to create a set. This replaces the existing stock 10mm rods wiht 12mm rods. You should consider the http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:949082 Openbuilds V slot Y axis for Taz project as a better alternative to this one, but this implementation should be less expensive. You will need: The stock Taz 6 hardware including the flexi feet 28 M3 heat set inserts. 4 M5 heat set inserts The 4 corner pieces (2 left, two right, front to back are identical on opposite corners) 4 of the retrofit 12mm bed bearing holders 4 LM12UU (sp?) bearings, whatever the one in the Taz 12mm Single bearing holder on the carriage is 2 500mm long 12mm rods (preferably hardened) Print Settings Printer Brand: LulzBot Printer: TAZ 5 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.50mm nozzle Infill: 85% or better Notes: The bed mounts in particular should probably be ABS or similar thermoplastic. The corners can be other materials. Post-Printing Instructions Print out all of the pieces Insert the heat set inserts into all of the pieces. Each of the bearing mount units recieve 4 M3 inserts, the corner pieces each recieve one M3 at the top for the rod mount, and one M5 for the front plate mount. One other insert goes in the foot hole. I'm not sure if it's an M3 or an M5 though. Remove the existing hardware 1 side at a time, and replace with the new 12mm hardware. The automatic bed leveling should compensate for any change in height. You may lose 1mm wiht this design total Z travel. A future revision may move that bearing down a bit if it looks to be an issue long term. Happy Printing, let me know if it needs any tweaks!
