I use a small 6V solar panel with a tp4056 module to charge my 18650 battery for "free". Charging a cell from a small solar panel takes a while and tp4056 does not have a percentage charge indicator. So I added a mini DC voltmeter to the system, to be able to check the voltage if the cell is close to being fully charged and I can replace it with another one or i have still plenty of time to fully charged. To clarify, standard 18650 battery have 2,5 or 3V when is discharged and 4,2V when fully charged. With so many elements the whole system was already quite a mess of cables, so I decided to design a simple housing. On the left side is a micro usb port from TP4056, on the right side is a DC jack socket that can safely take input voltage range 4.5 - 6V. In the upper part is located a DC voltmeter screen, a voltmeter activating button and a 18650 battery holder.
