2-color Failproof Fidget Cube

2-color Failproof Fidget Cube

I've printed half a dozen of muzehack's Failproof Fidget Cube (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2050830) for my nephew's friends, and they love them. I really like the model (although "failproof" is overly optimistic at best) but I wanted a two-color version, so I got to remixing. I started by making a 2x4 checkerboard mask in OpenSCAD. It looked great when printed, but since the hinges were now made of two different plastics, they tended to break at the junction. So I gave each hinge-half a couple of pegs that extended into the other half. I'm new at this so I have no idea if this is the "right" way to solve this problem, but I suspect that it's not and that I was trying to be too clever by half. I suspect that there's a simpler and more reliable way of achieving the same result, but again, I'm new at this. Regardless, the hinges seem much sturdier now.
