200 QX GoPro mount

200 QX GoPro mount

thingiverse

Inspired by Earthling1984's video claiming to be from a GoPro on board a 200 QX, I designed a mount for such. Be warned - I have NOT tested this. I'm not really interested in hanging a GoPro off the 200 QX, and have no idea how it will fly with one attached on this mount, or that it'll stay attached. However, I need the 200 QX mount for other projects (watch this space), and this looked like an easy place to start. Instructions The mount has two holes that go over the pegs on the underside of the 200 QX. The base plate is asymmetrical, to fit over the servo adapter and the slope of the bottom of the quad. The cutout for the servo pins should make it obvious which is being used here. Sorry, but I didn't leave any way to attach a servo line if you wanted to power your GoPro from the quad's battery. Two screws should go through the center of the mounting pegs on the quad. The good folks at Horizon Hobby tell me screws that bite into the quad body work fine, though it is possible to drop a bolt through them if you're particularly worried. Ideally, the holes in the mount would have a top as well, but I decided that wasn't worth the trouble. Either use screws with a large enough head to hold it in place, or use washers under the head to do so. In either case, since you're mounting a camera, you probably want to put washers made out of some sort of damping material (soft rubber? foam?) between the mount and the quad - under the plate - and between the screws/washers and the mount. Both may not be needed, but it won't hurt. If you want to work with the source, you'll need to install Haskell and the OpenSCAD.Graphics module as well as OpenSCAD. I have not provided the gpm.stl file, because it's a version one of MoonCast's customizable GoPro mounts, tweaked for my printer. You should generate your own. Instructions are in the MoonCast's scad file (thanks to MoonCast for providing that cool tool).
