2006 Chevy Cobalt Manual Transmission Shifter Retainer (Re-Design)

2006 Chevy Cobalt Manual Transmission Shifter Retainer (Re-Design)

The shifter retainer is the most common piece to break in the shifter assembly of the Chevy Cobalt. If the locking teeth don't break due to the stress riser created at a rib joint near the base, the tooth notch wears out and the retainer slips out anyway. This re-design removes excess geometry and adds two mounting surfaces to place a set-screw. The teeth are now curved for flexibility - meaning that you are using the elastic coefficient of the plastic to provide locking force as well as the normal mechanisms of engagement.
