Tesla Model 3s made from 2017-2020 have an issue with the cables running from the main body to the trunk lid. They used solid-core wire which likes to break when its bent/folded repeatedly. Tesla is currently not offering to replace the cabling unless the wires are already broken. More info on that: https://www.tesla.com/support/model-3-trunk-lid-harness-retrofit This thing is designed to limit the range of motion of the cable harness, preventing the wire from being repeatedly pinched which would likely eventually lead to failure.
