2040 Extrusion Motor Mount

2040 Extrusion Motor Mount

This is a part to mount a NEMA 17 stepper motor to the end of a 2040 extrusion rail, with the rail horizontal (for more side-to-side bed carriage stability). It has been designed to have the motor placed such that the belt can run through and over the rail without rubbing, and to keep the pulley as close to the base of the output shaft as possible to minimize leverage on the motor bearings. It uses the same mounting screws as used in the TronXY X1 printer, and M5 screws (also from the TronXY X1) to attach it to the rail if desired. Keep in mind the M5 screws that bolt the piece to the end of the rail are kind of tight to get in, so you'll want to install them in the part before pushing it onto the end of the rail. If your rail is not tapped or you do not wish to tap or use the holes, the screws really are not necessary. Also if desired, I can upload a version without the lower 2040 rail endcap (my printer modification has the new Y-axis rail stacked on top of one of the old 2040 rails from the printer). I don't know if it will fit onto a 4040 extrusion, but if it is identical to 2 stacked 2040's it should be fine.
