24oz Mug for shaving or drinking

24oz Mug for shaving or drinking

This is one of those projects that started off as a modeling exercise and turned into something usable. This mug holds about 3.25 cups of liquid, although 24oz is probably as close as you can get if you figure in ice, etc. When printed at 100% infill, it is absolutely water-tight. It's big enough to act as a shaving soap mug, if you use Proraso shaving soap. I'm sure it would work fine as a water cup as well, assuming that you use a pigment-free PLA to print it with, you don't put anything hot in it, you don't put it in a dishwasher, and you don't mind a few atoms of lead hitchhiking on the plastic from your hotend. Instructions If you intend to make this watertight, print it at 100% infill with 5 extra shells and full supports. On my Replicator 1, it took about 14 hours to print and used up roughly 8.5 ounces of filament. I had to do some cleanup with 320 grit sandpaper to get rid of burs from the supports. If you don't need it to be water tight, you can get away with 25% infill and 1 additional shell. If you need to reduce the size of the mug, keep in mind that the wall and bottom thickness is 5mm.
