Able to select a weaponry depending on the mission, the GunCATs can wield a pair of 6.5mm rotary cannons, 20mm auto-shotguns, or a mix of both. Warhead loadouts can be tailored for terrestrial or low-grav combat against hardened or soft targets. The 6.5mm rotary cannons can chew through vehicle or powered armor or shred unprotected humans to a pulp, and the 20mm auto-shotguns can select buckshot, solid slugs, or explosive micro-grenades. The CATs, or Cybernetic Automated Troopers, are hybrid battle units contain organic control systems that help them move and adapt to the many battlefields on planetary surfaces or in colonial microgravity. In accordance with the Treaty of New Brussels, though, their cognitive functions were scaled back to prevent combat-induced insanity. There are rumors of hacked CATs in the system, though, with heightened or restored thinking processes in command of their terrible weaponry, along with deep, murderous psychoses.
