2kg spool holder

2kg spool holder

So, I got the 2kg spool of Prusament recycled PETG. And it's about a finger's width too wide for my existing spool rollers. And I can't just print new traverses to widen one of those spool rollers, since that'd mean I'd have to remove one additional spool from my drybox (which is set up to hold five spools, just below the printer, to feed my MMU2s). So, I needed a spool holder that

fits to the wall of my drybox

uses minimum width above the width of the spool

will be reasonably easy to remove if I ever want to use some other filament on that position

I did find a handful of bearings (from one of the MMU upgrades) and, among various other odds and ends, a rear wheel QR skewer in my bicycle spares box. Nailing an axle that would hold two of those bearings to the wall of the drybox with the QR skewer and run the spool on two adapters that grip those bearings should do it.

Either that, or fall off and make a mess of the print…

As it is, it should work for a wall thickness between 16…20 mm (mine is 16 mm). In addition to the printed parts, you'll need

a QR skewer with nut (standard rear axle, ~145 mm)

two bearings (the size that came with the MMU upgrade - 8mm inner, 22 mm outer diameter, 7 mm thick)

You'll also need to drill a 16 mm diameter hole in the wall of your drybox (or wherever you want to mount that holder).

All files provided, do with them what you will. Just don't blame me if the holder falls down, wrecks your printer setup and scares the cat.
