2nd Generation ABS Fume Reducer

2nd Generation ABS Fume Reducer

This is an ABS fume reducer built to plug in to the MK6+ extruder frame. The MK6+ extruder frame forms a natural "vent hood" when you block off the sides with clear tape. This filter reduces the ABS fumes to an almost unnoticeable level. The inexpensive carbon “water filter” used was purchased at a home improvement store (2 for $10). The tubing used is sold by the yard from a home improvement store and is between 30-31mm in diameter at the narrower "plug-in portion". Instructions Warning! The filter holder and tube connector are both at or slightly larger than the print size limits of the TOM. These print easily on an aluminum heated build platform, but there may not be enough space on an ABP. It uses a 12V, 1.2A centrifugal fan purchased from a surplus electronics store. The fan is powered from an unused TOM 12V power supply connector (the connector with the black/yellow wires is 12V where yellow=+ and black=-). The cardboard tube housing has an inside diameter of 92.3 mm. The unfiltered air enters through the outside of the filter and exists through its interior tube. This is a second-generation fume reducer. You can see the first generation here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:13889
