After much research, I decided to purchase the 3020 CNC machine. However, before making the purchase, I read and watched several reviews from others who had experience with the machine and offered suggestions for improvement. When I received my CNC, I decided to implement some of these changes along with a few of my own. One of the changes I made was to mount the Y-axis limit switch underneath the machine to protect it, along with a switch cover. Additionally, for the X-axis, I designed new brackets to protect the wires for the limit switches. I also created a cover plate for the Z-axis limit switch and printed a new gauge since the original one limited the spindle from going a few millimeters higher. However, there were two major changes that were crucial for me to make: the placement of the emergency stop button and the lack of a mounted power supply. I addressed the emergency stop button by creating a switch that mounts on the right side of the 4040 extrusion, recessed enough to prevent accidental hits. I also created brackets to mount the power supply, including a piece that holds the Z-axis wires to prevent tangling and acts as cable relief. Overall, I found the 3020 CNC machine to be a great investment, especially with the added improvements. If you are considering purchasing one, I highly recommend implementing some of these modifications to enhance your experience with the machine. *Note: You will need a right angle mini usb cable if you choose to mount power supply and using a computer to connect to the CNC.
