This is now an exclusive at https://www.printables.com/model/450845-38-smith-wesson-head-up-snug-snap-latch-modular-am. The Snug Snap Latch snaps into a locked state when it is pressed towards the box front and it passes over a retaining tab. To open the box, pull the latch past the retaining tab and lift the box's lid. The thinness of the Snug box top allows the box bottom to be made taller, so that rimmed cartridges hang from the rim with no contact of the bullet tip with the box bottom. Look in my Ammo Boxes Collection https://www.printables.com/social/261776-brass_ring/collections/167118 to see my ammo boxes with different latches and hinges options. Other ammo boxes of this type can be found in my Snug Snap Latch Ammo Boxes Collection https://www.printables.com/social/261776-brass_ring/collections/532975 and https://www.thingiverse.com/brass_ring/collections/37492825/things. This cartridge box is printed as separate parts that are printed in orientations chosen to maximize strength and then snapped together. The box halves require moderate infill (10%-20%) and must be printed with supports. I prefer to paint on supports under the flat sections on the hinge hoops, under the curved area of the latch pins, and under the front retaining tab of the latch catch. I printed with 0.20 layer height in PETG and PLA. Make sure that you clear all support material to ensure proper function. Assembly Instructions: 1) Slide the hinges over the hinge pivot pins of the box top with the slot in the hinge facing the box top and the locking tabs pointing down and tilted inward 45 degrees. 2) Pivot the hinge tabs so that they point down and place the box bottom under the box top so that the hinge fixture hoops are aligned with the hinge tabs. 3) Carefully, press the the hinge locking tabs into the hinger fixture hoops until they lock into place. You may need to press the hinges into place in steps to keep the hinges aligned. 4) Slide the latch over the box top's latch pivot pin with the slot in the latch facing the box and the latch tilted inward 45 degrees. Revision History: 04/13/2023 - Cartridge clearance reduced by 0.5 mm because I had a few Fiocchi cartridges with rim diameters narrow enough to clear the ledge.
