I found achieving a good print definition of helical gear teeth was sensitive to the settings for temperature, perimeter extrusion width, speeds, retraction, etc. and therefore makes a good calibration piece for varying those settings and random walking your way towards getting the best print quality you can. I've also added a bridge across the top for test completeness. One version has a flat base plate for better bed adhesion. This gear was generated using the nice MCAD library for OpenSCAD.
