Post-Printing Engine Mount Designed to use a paper clip on the bottom to hold engine. How I Designed This Decided on the engine type i wanted to use and made the rocket to fit the engine. I also tried to make it as light as possible but still strong. 3D Rocketry Objective Students will learn how to design a simple model rocket. They will also gain a better understanding of the design cycle, through use of it. Audiences Middle school and up in drafting, engineering, and physics classes. Preparation Students should have a better understanding of how model rockets work. Students should have access to 3d modeling software and basic knowledge of the software. Students should know the engine they are using for their rockets. Students should also have access to a 3d printer(s). Classroom needs computers for every student/group with the 3d modeling software. Classroom need a model rocket launcher, rockets, and an area to launch. Steps Explain project to students Allow students/groups to determine what their designs will need to work. Start designing and 3d modeling Print finished works Test Rockets Gain feedback and redesign Retest Rockets repeat 6, and 7 as many times as you wish. (Optional) have students create and give a presentation on the (design cycle, use of physics concept, etc.) and how they used it. Results Students should have designed and texted one or multiple rockets, and have gained a better knowledge of model rockery and the concept betting taught.
