There are many ways to enclose a project. When in such a process why not make it awesome and learn some things along the way? That was my thought when learning transformed into doing with the subject of Bitcoin. Why not make a Full Node enclosure and learn some things along the way? Of course this could have just been a Raspberry Pi 4 with a 1 TB SSD attached but that is not a long term solution now is it? As a refresher a Bitcoin Full Node is a piece of the Bitcoin eco-System. Essentially the whole network runs off of 3 components: wallets, miners, and nodes. In the early days these were all one unit. However, as use cases and mining intensity rose they differentiated into 3. One of the largest things I learned in this project that if the .STEP file format. It appears that more and more vendors and file hosting sites are using this file format. In Fusion 360 this made integrations of pats so much easier than reverse engineering them with calipers - although an essential skill to have too! Overall I wanted to make the model entirely printable, provided your print bed was about 8” x 8”. Though, I could not resist using the laser to make the lid and some of the inner interfaces as the resulting finish is so clean. Plus, a smoky transparent front let the lights from the PCB and fan shine through just a little bit.
