I redesigned my own planter to try and make it more efficient and boy does it do that. There are little to no waste materials. I litterally have to get rid of a bunch of growing clay pebbles because I just don't need them any more because of the effeciency of these updated designs. So Version 1 can be found here https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4594191 So Version 5 is changed into v1, v2 and v3. V1 is the easiest to print V2 saves a bit more filament but it's like 2 grams than v1. V3 saves a bit more and save about 3 grams than v1. It is designed to recycle tin cans and jars for hydroponics. I redesigned this idea from common netting hydroponic set ups. I took the netting idea and changed it for fast and quick 3d printing to fit on the lip of a can or tomato sauce jar, or salsa jar, or what ever kind of jar. You might have to do some tweaks because cans and jars are sadly not standard. Just put in some growing medium in the top. I use Root Riot cubes.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007ZU5YUO?ref=nb_sb_ss_w_as-reorder-t1_k2_1_4&=&crid=1NZPTQC4I7A63&=&sprefix=root Then have your liquid nutrients in the can or jar. Make sure the glass part is covered. Algae will form because of the light and the nutrients will make it grow super fast. You can leave it to grow for a long time without watering after the roots start to come out into the water. It might take 2 to 3 weeks before you need to water it again. I've gone a month without doing it myself. I've tested version 1 with basil, pepper plants, and a few other spices. This really helped me with starting my garden inside while recycling. I'm tested v5 right now with strawberries, raspberries, and bok choy. Looks like bok choy is doing a decent job, but all of them should work.
