This is the next continuation of the 3D printed swerve drive system that I have been developing over the last few years. If you are familiar with this project, you may have noticed that it has been nearly a year since I released an update. This is because the team that I was working with decided to disband, so I began mentoring a rookie team in my area. Since I was working with a rookie team and I had more important responsibilities than this project, I decided to temporarily stop development. However, after much off season work, my new team is starting to develop some interest in experimenting with swerve next off season. This design is quite different than my previous swerve drive designs, as it uses some more durable and low profile components from Swerve Drive Specialties. Since these components are more expensive than other alternatives, I am currently developing an alternate version that uses cheaper components. Our calculations and simulations show that this design should handle the forces of FRC gameplay if printed in PLA or ABS, but it is recommended that you print it in something more durable, like Nylon or Polycarbonate.
