3D Printer (3DP2016) (3DPM4Z)
grabcad
Initially, I expressed doubt about building the printer, but after designing and constructing it in 2016, I added a lower stand the following year. The frame is reusable for the printer, with counterbores for the legs to fit snugly. Uniquely, this printer boasts four Z-axis motors for stability, uses cost-effective metric bearings, has a strong frame without flexing, features a lower stand for working height and table space, and accepts both standard and smaller build plates. However, the nozzle and extruders are prototypes, and simplification with a single nozzle and extruder is recommended. Only one printer exists, using RAMPS 1.4 circuit board, tested with various configurations like dual nozzles and Y-Funnel for two filaments. Simplify3D slicer software and a heated build plate are used for perfect prints. A 24-volt power supply heats the build plate quickly for both PLA and ABS temperatures, while a 12-volt power supply is used by the RAMPS 1.4 board. The printer's travels measure X: 222mm, Y: 245mm, Z: 330mm, with potential for more travel if a single nozzle replaces the prototype. The current build plate size limits print size but is chosen for its availability until a larger one is made.
