Submission for 3DPrinting Nerd competition. The brief is to design a spool holder that can attach to Joel's new spool shelves. The holder needs to connect / mount onto a 3/4" x 1 1/2" wooden bar (19mm x 38mm) and allow filament to feed on to 3D printers below the shelf. I have gone for a minimalist design as I think aything too complex will either make changing the spools difficult or detract from the filament collection in the shelves. My design is oriented so as to print on it's side to utilise the strength of the layer pattern. It will need some support material.
