3D-Scan Accessory for iPad Pro

3D-Scan Accessory for iPad Pro

This is my first working prototype of a self-made scandy-lookout. It makes the selfie-camera face to "the front", so it is easier to 3d-scan thing with the built-in depth-sensor (usually used for Face-ID). I made this for my 3rd Generation iPad Pro (with a screen protector). You need something like a cosmetic mirror (8cm x 6cm worked just fine for me) that you can glue onto the tilted side, and an app like ScandyPro, Heges or similar. This is kinda useless for people with newer IPad Pros, because they have a LIDAR-scanner. I sadly don't have Fusion360 yet, so there is no scad model. This doesn't work with the most cases, I think, so please keep that in mind. For a good print, turn it on the side in your slicer. Note: You may wanna adjust the space the iPad slides into, if your iPad doesn't fit. Just move the lower part up or down in your 3D-software of choice. If the iPad is too loose, put some paper or foam between the iPad and the accessory. It usually shouldn't produce scratches or damage your iPad otherwise. You may also have to edit your scans in post, because the TrueDepth-Camera isn't perfect, and the apps I know aren't either. This is NOT a fully optimized model, so if you have any idea how to make this better for printing, or if you have problems, please tell me in the comments! Thank you, and have fun 3d-scanning!
