These 3D-printed parts can make an old, inadequate respirator safe for use in a high-contact, high-exposure setting using a commonly available item as filtration media. These parts assemble to form a filter cartridge that will fit onto: 1. Any Standard 3M respirator 2. Any standard MSA respirator 3. A 3M Disposable half facepiece respirator (model 5200: https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-3m-products/~/3M-Half-Facepiece-Disposable-Respirator-Assembly-5201-Organic-Vapor-Medium-12-EA-Case/?N=5002385+3294738366&rt=rud ). This model accepts disposable NIOSH 5101, 5201, and 5301 cartridges (also identifiable by four tabs rather than three). Combine these parts with some cotton rounds and you have a fairly safe breathing apparatus--this is not recommended for those experiencing symptoms, as exhalation is unfiltered. (Still WIP, I may add this) Alternatively, should a limited supply of n95 masks be available, this system could stretch the supply substantially. By cutting up the donor mask, theoretically, the material from one mask could be used to protect as many as eight people. Mask used: 3M 5201 Disposable Half Face Respirator Filtration medium used: Cotton Rounds
