3rd Gen Toyota 4Runner Fire Extinguisher Holder for Cargo Area

Decided to make those cargo cover holders useful in my Runner. Wanted to add a fire extinguisher for some extra peace of mind...just in case...and thought these pockets may work well. There are 4 parts to this model. (1) The adapter plate: This inserts into the place where the original holder was at. It is partially recessed in the pocket (for extra stability) and uses the 2 factory screws for attachment. It also has pockets in the back for (4) 1/4 28 nuts. (2) Mount plate: This plate mounts to the adapter plate. It is set up for 1/4 28 x 1" flat-head screws. It mounts to (and over, for extra strength) the adapter plate, then gets screwed in place. It has a dovetail in which the FE holder will mount. (3) The fire extinguisher (FE) holder: It has a corresponding dovetail which slides into the mount plate and a top plate to stop it in place. There are also some notches for 2 hose clamps to secure the FE. (4) Pin: this little pin goes through both the mount plate and holder to keep everything secure. To use...pull the pin and slide the holder with fire extinguisher up and out of the mount plate... The fire extinguisher is a Harbor Freight buy...the 2lb one...#62634 I also added a blank adapter plate if someone wants to make some other device using this pocket space. Also, this was made specifically for a 97 Runner...there was a change to some interior components halfway through this gen so it may or may not fit those later years. This is set up for the driver's side pocket. You'd have to mirror image the adapter plate model if you wanted it on the passenger's side. Enjoy...!
