This is a work in progress project currently in the very beginning stages. Files were exported from inventor and will need to be scaled 10x. The current files are rough designs for struts and connectors that will make a dome that is about 11-12" in diameter and about 6" in height. They will of course all be fine tuned, all connectors and struts are hollow and should fit 1/4" tubing and some wire. For a 3/8 dome you will need to print 30 A struts, 40 B and 50 C, for a 5/8 dome you will need 30 A, 55 B and 80 C. For the 3/8 dome you will need 6 5-way connectors, 5 6-way connectors and 20 AB&C Connectors, for the 5/8 dome you will need 6 5-way connectors, 10 6-way connectors and 30 AB&C connectors. I have yet to make the 4 way connectors for the base, but they are on their way. I believe AB&C connectors may be replaced with the 6-way connectors, this is because if the scale is kept the print should be flexible enough to account for the small differences. The idea is to create a 3v geodesic dome to create naturalistic environments indoors. At the moment I only have a rough model of the dome but I am working on making the frame of the dome completely 3D printable. In addition, I will be working to make the domes in a sense modular. By this I mean creating various panels, brackets and bases that allow for custom ways to upkeep the dome. Such as integrated lighting and watering system, panels that can open and close to regulate humidity, along with adding spaces and tunneling through brackets to allow for easy and hidden wiring inside the dome. Again this a work in progress project and will be working on it slowly as I am currently a college student. As I make changes I will be updating this thing. If you have any suggestions as to what you might like to see come out of this project feel free to leave me a comment.
