If you shoot wetplate collodion tintype like me and get 5x7 plates from Main Trophy Supply, you probably have a stack of these leftover 3x5 plates that get sent with your order. I decided to design an insert that will center these plates within a Graflex Graphic Film Pack Adapter that normally shoots 4x5 film. Print on your usual settings and check for proper fitment. The base is "keyed" with a raised dot that should be facing upwards (visible) inside the film adapter. I'd also recommend putting a couple small strips of foam on the insert that will seat against the cover when closed, holding the plate in place. Directions for use: 1. Insert the larger piece into open film pack with dot facing upward when film pack door is open to the left. 2. Insert your plate or film within the printed base. 3. Drop the spacer inside the base to hold the plate in place against the focal plane. 4. Close the door and shoot your image. I have ran into some random plates that are slightly wider than the 5" opening. You can either sand the sides a bit more or trash these bigger plates. Always check sizes before shooting.
