This gamble paid off and humanity finally found advanced alien civilizations, leading to a period known as the Enlightening. New trade routes were established, business boomed, and a second wave of colony planets were founded in the Centaurus Arm. The Vitrandi alien race was one of the first civilizations to be discovered. Their technology is incredible, producing some of the most sophisticated weapons in the galaxy, which are now hotly traded on the black market by space pirates.  Interestingly, a small subset of the Vitrandi population known as tekniks, possess rare abilities to manipulate matter. They were shunned by their non-teknik peers, living in isolated colonies on their home planet with little prospects for the future. This led to many of them taking up with space pirates when given the opportunity, where they are revered and utilised for their powers instead of feared. This is how Galduri ended up with Carina Navarro's crew - he is a water teknik, which can prove very useful when exploring alien planets as he's always able to help them locate a water source, or even extract water from the ground and air in desperate situations. This power makes him very dangerous, but since Navarro saved him from a life of persecution on his home planet, he is fiercely loyal to her and his crew mates.  Galduri Vaikutava is part of the Space Pirates collection, which was first available on our Patreon channel in April 2021.
