A compact little CNC foamcutter I designed for cutting wings. Plate front and xSled are printed in PETG as the stepper motors can get quite warm. All other parts are PLA. All parts are printed without support. The electronics are based on this thread: Big thanks to rasciodc! https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2915801-4-Axis-Hot-Wire-CNC-%28Arduino-Ramps1-4%29-Complete-Solution ___________________________________________ Software: WingWire I created some basic software over the last few months that allows the user to create gcode for wing segments. https://youtu.be/uWO8kMGxqGU ___________________________________________ Instructions : Setup: - Place jumpers and drivers on ramps 1.4 (see rcGroups for axis layout) - Adjust drivers - Plug ramps1.4 board onto Mega2560 - Connect stepper motors - Connect power supply (I only turn it on when cutting, the board is powered by usb) Software: - Install arduino IDE software to your computer - Connect your mega2560 with the usb cable - Open GRBL0.8cMEGARAMPS in IDE - Under the tab "config.h" change "ALWAYS_DEFAULTS_SETTINGS" to 0 - Go back to the main tab and click "upload" - You can now use GRBL hotwire controller to control your cnc - Adjust the steps/mm in the GRBL hotwire controller settings Cutting: - With power supply off move all axes to their home position by hand and zero them - Load your gcode -turn on power supply - Set hotwire temp - Start the cut ___________________________________________ Parts List Print parts: plate front, plate rear,z_sled_2.0 and stopper front need to be mirrored for the right tower. Updates: - z Sled 2 has been updated for use with a bow - z Sled coupling allows for steppers without integrated lead screw - "d10" parts for using Ø10mm linear rods for the horizontal axis Electronics: Arduino Mega 2560 Ramps 1.4 4x A4988 Drivers Stepper motor cables 12v powersupply 4x Nema17 style stepper motors (2 with lead screw & nut ) Mechanical parts: 4x 500mm Ø8mm linear rods 4x 250mm Ø8mm linear rods 4x 20x20mm aluminum profile 200-250mm 12x LM8UU linear bearing 2m GT2 belt 2x GT2 pulley 2x GT2 drive pulley 2x GT2 belt clamp (thing:1719926) 12x T-nut for profile, I printed mine ( thing:1073567 ) 8x m3*25mm bolt & nuts (front & rear plates) 20x m3*10mm bolts & nuts (stepper motors and stoppers) 2x m3*40mm bolt (wire pivot) 2x m5*30mm bolt (pulley) 4x m5*15-20mm bolt (belt connection) 2x 608 (skateboard) bearing if you are using z_sled_2.0 with a bow Buying the electronics second hand I managed to get it going with a budget of only 122,50€.
