Update: Dec 04, 2022 Added a few new versions to: https://www.printables.com/model/314297-4-l-dry-box-spool-holder-dispenser Added a round opening for round hygrometer Added a version with the hygrometer on the opposite side for smaller printers This is a spool holder and hygrometer holder for a very common food container that can be found on amazon. This container is just the right size for a 1 kg spool and is decent quality. www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B08TWH2QHV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00ie=UTF8&th=1 Rectangle shaped hygrometer that I used: https://www.amazon.ca/TASOGEN-Thermometer-Hygrometer-Temperature-Fahrenheit/dp/B08P3QJJZL/ref=sr_1_1? I designed the spool holder to allow the spool to spin no matter what direction the container is positioned. I add desiccant to the bottom of the container and the humidity stays at 10% I tried printing the spool holder that sits on the bottom of the container but the rollers are not wide enough to hold the spool properly and it keeps falling off. The spool bolt and nut is a derivative of this thing: www.thingiverse.com/thing:1241566. It takes the very common 608 bearings but you can print the version that I included that does not use the bearings and I think it would work just as well. The spools that I have tested this with have a center hole between 53 mm - 54.4 mm and a width of 66 mm To attach the holder to the lid use M4 screws. They will thread themselves into the plastic and hold well enough. You will have to drill holes into the lid and since the lids are clear you can use the printed part as a guide. I tried gluing the part to the lid with hot melt glue and it worked ok for me but not sure how long it will last. I had to print the holder using supports because my printer does not do bridging very well. The bolt and the nut do not need supports. Print with the spool holder with the holder arms facing up. If you have round hygrometers let me know what size hole it needs and I will add that design to the list. I only have one dry box lid that I added a tube and tube connector to run filament to the printer. The lids pop off quite easily so when I want to print something I swap the lids. This keeps the storage dry boxes sealed better and neater. Let me know if you can think of any improvements. This model is tested and fits very well into the lid.
