40mm Fan Duct

40mm Fan Duct

I have a custom hot-end mount on my machine, so I needed a way to mount a cooling fan. I don't actually use it while printing as I have never found a good use for cooling fans during printing. However, it is good for cooling down a print if I am overly eager to pull it off the bed. The duct provides a very good blade of air without slowing down the fan, as many ducts do. It can be pivoted around the x axis (rotated around X). The mount was designed for M3 screws but drill whatever holes you need as long as you print it with enough perimeters. The holes to mount the fan are deliberately small so that they can be cleanly drilled to the right diameter, and tapped if desired. I "tapped" mine lazily by just screwing in some screws I had. The mount portion is very small so that it can be reprinted quickly and with little plastic in the event that it breaks or whatever. I'm posting this in the hope that it can be useful to someone.
