<p>The Answer.</p> <p>Also, just having fun trying out a some 3D CAD and printing ideas. More versions on the way.</p> <p>This one : 42 Stained Glass</p> <p>As the name implies, I was trying for a stained glass window effect here, by printing in a single print with multiple colors via filament switching. This is a bit tricky since some of the layer colors combine to create new colors, but this also opens up some new possibilities. I used filaments I had on hand, some of which were transparent, but as the layers are thin transparent filaments are not strictly a requirement. See the print instructions for more details on the filaments I used.</p> <p>Although thus was rather time consuming to create in CAD, the results were better than I hoped; I was surprised to see how well the actual results matched the CAD. With that in mind, here are the filament colors I used, in the order of printing :</p> <ul> <li><ol> <li>transparent clear (the base of the print)</li> </ol> </li> <li><ol> <li>yellow (the circular border)</li> </ol> </li> <li><ol> <li>transparent red (the numbers)</li> </ol> </li> <li><ol> <li>black (the outlines around the "sections")</li> </ol> </li> </ul> <p>As you can see from the photos, the #2 and #3 colors combine to create orange in this case.</p>
