<p>The Answer.</p> <p>Also, just having fun trying out a some 3D CAD and printing ideas. More versions on the way.</p> <p>This one : 42 Tree</p> <p>This one prints fairly quickly, but is a bit tricky to put together. This works best if different colors of PLA are used. For my print I used:</p> <ul> <li>base : olive green</li> <li>"leaves" - green</li> <li>trunk - brown</li> </ul> <p>Assembling the print :</p> <p>The parts should fit together without glue. Start by inserting the trunk into the base (use care not to break the "branches"). Carefully remove the brim from the base of the trunk and trim the base carefully with a razor knife. Note that the base is not symmetrical, so although the trunk can be inserted in a variety of angles it should be inserted so that the "short" end will be in front (see photos). The trunk is a tight fit in the base, but it <em>will</em> fit (inserting at a slight angle helps).</p> <p>All of the leaves (the "42") will print together. Pay careful attention to the positions on the print bed - the parts of the "4" are in the front row, the parts of the "2" are in the back row. The positions of the parts left to right correspond to the positions on the tree front to back (see photos). The "leaves" are a simple press fit onto the branches, and since they can rotate you must take care to make sure the parts are rotated into the correct orientation; simple adjust the parts until the parts of the "42" line up properly when viewed from the front.</p>
