4M-V2 Van Heutsz Dutch Tank (Fictional)

The 4M-V2 (4-man Vechtwagen type 2), also known as Van Heutsz, is a Dutch tank that evolved from the rather un-effective Marmon-Herrington MTLS1G14. When the MTLS1G14 was delivered to the Dutch army it was already outdate by the standard of the time. The 4M-V2 is an evolution that solves many problems of its predecessor: - Partially welded armour which is also sloped instead of only riveted armour - A stronger engine salvaged from M4A2 tanks (General Motors 6046 twin inline diesel engine; 375 hp) - A radio - Hatches for the driver and the radio operator - Two different hatches in the turret - A 75mm gun M2 salvaged from M3 Grant tanks The weight of the 4M-V2 is around the same as its predecessor (22 tons) eventhough it is better armoured due to the removal of the riveted armour and frame. The name Van Heutsz is derived from the Dutch general with the same name. He served in The Royal Dutch East-Indian army (KNIL). Since the line of MTLS tanks were ment to serve in the Dutch East Indies, the name of a famous general of that theater would be a fitting name. This tank is a fictional upgrade of the Dutch MTLS-1G14 tanks if they were shipped towards England and modernised to serve in Europe and Asia in 1944 and onwards. The style of modernisation is similair to the M3 to M5 Stuart tanks. Historically plans like this were never carried out due to the lack of funds, lack of manpower and the abundance of American/British vehicles. The size of the print at 1.0 is around 1/76.
