I have created a simple fence post cap design that can house a solar panel for string lights so that the string lights can be placed along the fence to create a lit up fence perimeter at night. I used ASA filament since this is meant to be outdoors but should work for any outdoor rated filament like ABS and PETG. The fence post cap with no hole is for the fence posts that dont need a solar panel in them since I used string lights, only every 5 posts or so needed a solar panel. The amazon link for the solar string lights I used is: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09SLMSY3G?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details Should only need one screw to secure the cap onto the post, I wanted black screws since I printed the caps with black filament. Make sure where you screw is low enough on the cap that it doesnt hit the solar panel or a wire coming from solar panel. Also first drill a pilot hole as just drilling the screw will cause the plastic to split. Also dont drill the screw in too far or the plastic may split. The screws I used: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C1SD9H1F?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 If you print with the top of the cap on the build plate then you do not need supports but the finish on the top of the cap may have blemishes since it was printed on the build plate. I didn't want to waste filament on supports so I printed them face down and most came out good, a couple had a little bit of white mis coloration on the top from trying to take off build plate before it was all the way cooled down and from using ASA which will get white blemishes if put under stress or bent too much. For the cap with no hole at 10% infill, it took about 202 grams of filament to print a set of four at a time. For the cap with the hole for the solar panel at 10% infill, it took about 169 grams of filament to print a set of four at a time. When installing on fence post, you can tuck most of the wire around the solar panel in the cap just make sure that the wire coming out of the solar panel is aligned with the channel in the cap 3d model to ensure the wire doesn't get pinched with the post.
