--- 04.01.20 update II ---

Added first test image.

No light leaks!

Even without any light foam seals around the film holder. Should still be added though, to increase distance to lens, so that infinity is in focus. Infinity is now in focus when you focus about 1,5mm out with the helical. Could be edited in cone or middle section.

--- 04.01.20 update ---

Checked with ground glass if it was in focus at infinity. It wasn't, but it's not far off! Adding a black felt or light seal foam where the film holder is sitting will put i almost in focus at inifity. It's off by only a milimeter or so with my Nikkor 75mm 4.5. It's flange distance is 81.6mm.

Added M4 grip mount on right side of middle section as well.

Added a new STL, the Goodman Zone grip, but remixed. Made the mount surface flat so that it fits better to the middle section. Top and bottom knob can be found at Dora Goodman's site and her google disk space: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/12LFKAIpdzVwagsV6Xn\_9s\_RO3xCwpP2x
--- 03.01.20 update ---

Finally got everything assembled. Uploaded picture of camera. Not sure if there are light leaks yet. Might have to use some camera light seal foal or felt around the film holder slot.

Still waiting on a glass cutter in the mail, so I can cut a ground glass.

increased size slightly in M4 grip nut hole in middle.
--- 02.01.20 update ---

Updated cone and middle to v7

fixed minor issues with middle, m3 nut holes, tripod socket size

fixed cone to be even eaiser to print, with less support

I now recommend printing it face down. This also helps with supports not filling up tiny M2 nut holes for helical mount.
--- 01.01.20 update III ---

Fixed middle section

Added vertical tripod screw mount, in between optional grip place. Might add grip on other side, if film holder allows it.
--- 01.01.20 update II ---

Edited everything to v5.

Increased M3 hole sizes.

Increased size of light trap seal in middle section sliglty, so that cone light trap fits better.

Increased increased dimension for helical focus mount.

Reduced dimension of middle inner rectangle slightly.

Reduced film holder slot, so that film holder stops at the wall and not only in the light trap.

Reduced back size accordingly.
--- 01.01.20 update I ---

v4 cone 2: Changed the design of the cone. Noticed that the round and smooth design might have caused vignetting in the corner. Made it more box like to prevent this. It also prints much faster and needs less support. I recommend printing it face up, so that support is inside the cone.
--- 31.12.19 update ---

Fixed a lot of issues with the cone and middle section.

Uploaded new STLs, v4.

Split it into singular files for easier printing.

Added hotshoe mount (M3 nuts and bolts) and simple hotshoe, might be a bit shallow.

Added grip mount, (M4 nuts and bolts), should fit the Goodman Zone camera grip.

Added 3/8" screw tripod mount under middle section.
Inspired by Morten Kolve's "Will Travel 4x5 camera", I decided to try and design my own, since I had a 75mm lens and fotoman helica focus to use.

This is a work in progress. I uploaded the 123D design save files as well, if anyone wants to remix or improve upon it.

The idea with the holes, in the back and middle, are for some bungie cord to keep the film holder in place between back and middle.

Will use regular M3 nuts and bolts to hold the middle and cone together.

Uses M2 10mm flat head philips screws and M2 nuts for fastening the helical focus mount.

I plan to use some cheap picture frame glass to cut into a ground galss and sand it. Then use a cheap fresnel sheet to brighten it.

Print instructions

Category: 3D Printing
