It is not possible to scan the whole 4x5 film using my CanoScan 9000F. So instead, I scan two halves of it and combine it afterwards. This frame is designed so that the film can be placed perfectly each time. And since the film will be elevated a bit, it also prevent Newton's rings from appearing.
