$5.00Powerade Bottle Katadyn BeFree Filter Adapter

An adapter I made to mount a Katadyn BeFree filter to a standard Powerade bottle. This will be a useful piece of kit to have with you on a backpacking/backcountry trip if you use the Katadyn BeFree as your primary filter. Take a few empty powerade bottles with you to keep clean water in; then if your bladder breaks, you can switch to using them for dirty water and just mount the filter right to it. I now have one of these in my kit. Because the filter wasn't designed to go inside the bottle, it kind of protrudes off the top of the bottle quite a bit; but the actual adapter itself is pretty lightweight and doesn't add much of any weight penalty to your loadout. Adapter dimensions: 8.4cm (height) x 4.2cm (diameter at widest)Mounts a standard Katadyn filter to a Powerade bottle. If there's another adapter you wish existed, let me know! You should be able to get away with only 10% infill, but when using don't expect it to be durable and don't apply any torque to the adapter when the bottle of water is screwed in to the bottom. I created a lip around the part that screws into the gatorade bottle to try and fix a minor leak issue I was having; it helps, but still leaks a bit. I find taking some electrical tape and creating a makeshift o-ring around the bottom bottle-facing edge helps significantly. Print exactly as oriented in the file, no supports needed. 10% infill is fine, you can print in any material you want but I recommend PLA or PETG for safety reasons (as you will be consuming water that runs through the adapter, even if it runs through the filter first.)
