5-Band Armillary Sphere Ring

5-Band Armillary Sphere Ring

thingiverse

This design was inspired by 16th-17th century foldable rings (also known as armillary sphere rings). Given how simple, yet elegant the design looked, I designed one for 3D printing. Warning: This is best printed on an SLA printer, as some of the gaps between parts can be as small as 0.15mm. And while you may try, it has not been designed for print-in-place. Printing: Walls - a minimum of 0.8mm thick. Infill - a high infill is recommended for strength in thin sections. Scale - Nominal outer diameter of 50mm. Smaller scales may be possible, but haven't been tested. Assembly - It's recommended to assemble rings together after washing, but before final curing. Put together in download order.
