This project was intended to provide a power supply cover for a 5 VDC power supply that will be used to power 5 VDC LED strips having individually addressable LEDs.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

Prusa Mk2

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

200

Infill:

10%

Notes:

Items need to be rotated 180 degree around the x or y axes.

Post-Printing

"Adornment"?

Black 12mm sections of the end-blocks were printed as separate pieces and glued to the gray end-blocks to add a bit of adornment to the final product.

How I Designed This

Design

This is similar to power supply end-blocks others have designed but was not sure if any would work as needed for my power supply. Using Fusion 360, I designed this for a 5 Volt DC power supply which will be used to power 5 Volt DC LED strips having individually addressed LEDs.

Custom Section

Multi-Colored End-Blocks

While testing out the fit for the power supply end-blocks, I cut out a 12mm section from the open end of one of the end-blocks in Slic3r and printed just the 12mm section. Since having the 12mm section (in black) next to the final end-block (in gray) on the power supply "looked so good" to me, I printed another 12mm section and glued one to each end-block.

These 12mm sections are not needed but I though the "adornment" added to the final result.

You could also possibly use "ColorPrint" at http://www.prusaprinters.org/color-print to 3D print multi-colored end-blocks if you can be around at the layer(s) you need to make the filament change. ColorPrint embeds special commands into your existing g-code files.

Components:
1x 5VDC 200W Power Supply - http://s.aliexpress.com/YZ7fAZni

1x URBEST Inlet Module Plug - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ME5YAPK/ref=oh\_aui\_detailpage\_o06\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

3x Panel Mount 2.1mm DC barrel jack - https://www.adafruit.com/product/610

Category: Electronics
