My mother needed a butter slicer for a church dinner, but was unable to find one in stores so I designed this one. Uses waxed dental floss to slice through the butter: Push one end through one of the holes and place a peg to hold it in place. Then go down underneath in the crevice to the other side and loop it around the slanted protrusion and back down underneath in the crevice on the other side keeping the line taunt. Continue this process until you've reached the other hole and push the other end of the floss through and press the peg into place. If the floss breaks, just push out the pegs and replace it. May be possible to switch out the floss for small stainless steel wire (like piano wire) for cutting harder butter.
